the Christopher convex mirror

The Christopher convex mirror celebrates one of my favorite combinations; blue and gold. The gold metal leafed frame is embellished with layers of transparent blue Venetian rods. Sodalite crystal points ring the frame with lapis-lazuli spheres between them.

The Christopher convex mirror is a touch more than 16 inches in diameter. It will be shipped to one of my showrooms/venues shortly.

A Sodalite sphere from my collection

Sodalite is a group of minerals also known as the feldspathold group. Its rich royal blue colors makes it very desirable in the decorative arts. It was first discovered by Europeans in 1811 in Greenland. However its use can been traced back to the Caral people( 2600-2000 BC) near Lima, Peru. It is rarely seen in crystal form but can sometimes be seen entwined with white calcite.
