the Vaticano convex mirror

The Vaticano convex mirror is composed of a gilded, fluted oval frame that is covered with layers of clear Venetian glass rods. The “mirror” at the center is really a large oval crystal cabochon. It is a mirror with “no reflection”.

The Vaticano mirror is about 12 inches by 7 inches. It hangs in my studio pending being shipped to one of my showrooms/venues.

Jewelry for Walls!

Like so many of my mirrors the Vaticano is inspired by Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s Cathedra Petri ( created 1647–53) which anchors the central nave of St Peter’s in Rome. My favorite aspect of it is the blaze of baroque light surrounding the holy ghost dove at the center.
