The Iris convex mirror is a celebration of the mineral fluorite. This amazing mineral comes in a myriad of colors from blue, green, burgundy, teal, amber and grayish white. The gold metal leafed frame is studded with 32 fluorite points with striations of green, purple, gray, violet and teal. Each point is different. The surface of the frame has layers of transparent Venetian glass rods in colors that echo the fluorite. The inner frame has fluorite spheres and more Venetian glass.
The Iris convex mirror is about 18 inches in diameter. It will be shipped to my New York venue, KRB. Call 212-288-221 for more information.

The variety of colors that fluorite comes in reminds me of a rainbow so this mirror is named for the ancient Roman goddess Iris.
Iris is a messenger to the gods and is also a cup bearer. She is personified by the rainbow. Go to https://ecelectidlight.co/2021/02/23/goddess-of-the-week-iris-the-rainbow/ for more.

One of the most intriguing applications of the rainbow is in the Elizabeth I Rainbow portrait by Isaac Oliver painted around 1600 when the subject was about 70 years old. The inscription on the painting reads “NON SINE SOLE IRIS” which translates to “no rainbow without the sun”.
