the Fortuna convex mirror

The Fortuna convex mirror is constructed around an exceptionally deep wood frame that I gilded with gold metal leaf. The steep interior of the frame has rings of clear and gold colored transparent Venetian glass. The exterior of the frame has a two tiered halo of striated golden fluorite points on one level and clear rock crystal quartz points on the other. This mirror is about 16 inches in diameter.

The Fortuna convex mirror is in my Carmel-by-the-Sea venue, Cayen Home. Call 831-626-2722 for more information.

A German engraving of an allegory of Fortuna and Justice, circa 1534

Fortuna is the Roman goddess of luck/fortune. The capriciousness of fate resulting in either wealth or disaster was wielded by her. The unpredictability of Fortuna is shown in her attributes, the standing on a sphere; the rotation of a wheel( Wheel of Fortune!), the blindfold and the sail billowing wherever the wind blows.

Of course, I focus on her ability to bestow riches and happiness! Abbondanza!
