The Ambrosia convex mirror uses one of my favorite crystals, flourite. The bands of color range from purple to green to golden yellow to clear. The colors shift from one to another with an ombré effect. The base of each crystal are studded with glass cabochons that extend onto the gold leafed frame. The frame itself is embellished with Venetian glass rods echoing the colors of the flourite. This mirror is a touch more than 9 inches in diameter.

Ganymede and the Eagle carved by Bertel Thorvaldsen in 1817
Ambrosia is the food of the ancient Greco-Roman gods. It conferred immortality, health and eternal youth and was consumed exclusively by the gods. It was served to the gods by Ganymede. In the myth, Ganymede was one of the most beautiful of mortals and Zeus, king of the gods, fell in love with him. Ganymede was abducted by Zeus in the form of an eagle to Mount Olympus where he became the cup bearer supplying ambrosia at feasts.
