The Bernadotte convex mirror was planned after my trip to the Tucson Gem & Mineral show. I amassed a quantity of green fluorite points as well as some extraordinary malachite spheres. I paired the malachite with blue-green azurite spheres and placed them around the perimeter of the gilded frame. The rest of the frame is encrusted with emerald green, transparent Venetian glass rods. I used the fluorite to create a sunburst of green around the frame.
The Bernadotte mirror is around 22 inches in diameter. I has been shipped to my New York venue, KRB. Call (212) 288-2221 for more information.
Jewelry for Walls!

Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte was one of Napoleon’s Field Marshals. He played a major role in the French victory at Austerlitz. Although he had a turbulent relationship with Napoleon he became a part of his extended family when he married Désirée Clary who not only had a brief personal fling with Napoleon but her sister was married to one of his brothers.
Bernadotte was surprisingly elected crown prince of Sweden in 1810. The Swedish royal line was sputtering out and it was thought to be prudent to appease Napoleon by establishing a new French dynasty. Despite the defeat of Napoleon, Bernadotte succeeded to the Swedish throne and his successors still reign today.
One of the benefits to becoming a king of Sweden were the jewels that were created to embellish the sovereign. Such jewels were the Bernadotte emerald parure. Below are several Swedish royals sporting these splendid emeralds!
