the Queen of the Night Convex Mirror

In Mirrors by Mark Evans

The Queen of the Night convex mirror is my first black design.  Layers of transparent black, gray and clear Venetian glass are attached to a wood, silver gilded frame. The frame shimmers and shifts from silver to black as you pass it.  Like shadows on a moonlit night.

The Queen of the Night mirror is 24 inches in diameter and hands in my studio pending its sale or being shipped to one of my showrooms.

The Queen of the Night convex mirror was inspired by one of my favorite operas, Mozart’s The Magic Flute.  In the opera is a character, the Queen of the Night, who sings two of the most harrowingly difficult arias in music.  One of them I hum to myself in the shower….You can hear the incomparable Diana Damrau sing it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5U5fqO8oMw0queen-of-the-night-detail
