the Natasha convex mirror

In Mirrors by Mark Evans

The Natasha convex mirror is all about gold. Thick stacks of Venetian glass rods in pale gold colors are fused with a variegated gold metal leafed frame. The mottling on the metal leaf are almost like the rainbow colors of an oil slick and they impart a shimmering effect when seen through the glass. The mirror is surrounded by clear crystal cabochons.

The Natasha convex mirror is about 10 inches in diameter. It is being placed in my Carmel venue, the Cayen Home Collection. Contact cayenhomeandgifts@gmail.com for more information.

The Natasha convex mirror is named for the lead character in Leo Tolstoy’s epic novel, War and Peace( 1869). Natasha Rostova is the impulsive, loving daughter of a kind nobleman in Moscow. In the novel she ages from a girl of 13 to a woman of 28. She lives in turbulent times both personally and universally( Napoleon’s attempted conquest of Russia!). But she prevails after living through war, thwarted love and betrayal.
