the Gioconda convex mirror

In Mirrors by Mark Evans

The Gioconda convex mirror was created because of my hunger for color. I know that mirrors featuring gold or silver are going to be successful but sometimes I feel the need to do something different. I had several mineral points in my studio; smoky quartz. green jasper and amethyst. No colors clash in nature and I thought this combination was unique and interesting. Combined with a simple gold-leafed frame and a corona of small pieces of Venetian glass rods, Gioconda became one of my favorites.

Gioconda is about 26 inches in diameter. It is currently in my studio pending being shipped to one of my showrooms.

Jewelry for walls!

The Gioconda convex mirror is inspired by the violently melodramatic opera La Gioconda by Amilcare Ponchielli( 1876). Colorful would be an understatement to describe this piece!
