The Chevalier convex mirror started out as a deep frame that I gilded with gold metal leaf. The interior of the frame surrounding the mirror is filled with rich blue Venetian glass rods cut into small lengths to fit the contours. The frame is surrounded with two levels of glass/quartz points that echo the color of the interior.
The Chevalier convex mirror is about 18 inches in diameter. It hangs in my studio pending being shipped to one of my showrooms/venues.

A chevalier is the lowest rank of chivalry in the hierarchy of the French nobility. A chevalier is a knight or a member of certain orders of honor or merit( like the Legion of Honor).
My mirror is a tribute to the Chevalier Josephe Bologne de Saint-George( 1745-1799). He was a famous bi-racial free man of color who achieved much in his life. He was a virtuosic violinist( besting even Mozart!), composer and conductor, fencer, athlete, writer and dancer.

A terrific movie was made about the life of Saint-George in 2023.
