The Alba convex mirror is small but contains a lot of glitter and depth. The frame was a great shape but it was plastic and took a considerable amount of resin to give it heft and solidity. It was gilded with gold metal leaf and then given a thick crust of yellow, topaz and straw colored Venetian rods. The tips are studded with unusual “exploded” glass spheres.

The Alba convex mirror is named for the Italian word for dawn. Surely dawn is a beautiful thing wherever you happen to be. But in Italy the dawn is touched with gold….
