the Adele convex mirror

In Mirrors by Mark Evans

The Adele convex mirror started out life as a wall clock. But the frame was so perfect that I ditched the clock and made it into something beautiful. The frame was gilded and then I attached large chunks of rock crystal quartz and a string of Venetian glass rods.

Adele is around inches 10.5 inches in diameter. It hangs in my studio till being shipped to one of my showrooms.

Jewelry for Walls!

Adele (also spelled Adèle) is a feminine given name meaning ‘nobility’. It derives from German Adel meaning ‘nobility’ or adal, ‘noble’.

Of course, there is an Adele who is currently a singing sensation but the original inspiration for me was the sublime Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer painted by Gustav Klimt, completed between 1903 and 1907. The portrait was commissioned by the sitter’s husband, Ferdinand Bloch-Bauer, a Jewish banker and sugar producer.
